Edinburgh South Ladies set a new record for the biggest away victory in team history by making short work of a long trip to Blairgowrie on Scottish Women’s Football League Cup duty.
Alfie Smith’s team climbed to the top of their group section with a second straight win to start the season, the visitors scoring 11 goals without conceding against Blairgowrie & Rattray.
New signing Zoe Evans scored a hat-trick and home-grown South star Niamh Inglis was only denied a triple of her own by the width of the post, the teenager having to settle for two goals on an afternoon when Rossha Muirhead made a scoring debut – and goalie Emily Hamilton kept a deserved clean sheet.
Scorers: Evans (3), Inglis (2), Blacklock (2), Muirhead, Arbuckle, King, Tulloch (pen).
South are back on the road this weekend, although they won’t be travelling quite as far as Smith takes his squad to face Musselburgh Windsor in a League Cup clash on Sunday, details TBC.
